FC Barcelona intends to continue the renewal of its workforce which was started during the last transfer window. The arrivals of Milanese Franck Kessié and Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen are on the books and the Catalan club is also targeting other players such as César Azpilicueta and even Robert Lewandowski. But Barça will have to reduce its payroll before welcoming recruits this summer.
Relegated to the background by Xavi this season, Memphis Depay could be one of the players placed on the transfer list in June. The former OL player does not necessarily see it in a good light. Present in the mixed zone after the victory against Mallorca on Sunday evening when he opened the scoring (2-1), Depay repeated his desire to stay. “I came here wanting to play. I want to be important for the team next year and for many years to come,” announced the Dutchman.
Xavi seduced by Depay match
Xavi did not wish to discuss the future of his 28-year-old striker, but the Spanish coach was won over by the performance he delivered on Sunday evening. “It is time to talk about the present. Memphis played because he is training very well, he had a fantastic week. I want players with that attitude, with the desire to make a difference. I have sometimes been unfair to him. If he plays like that, he has to play”he said at a press conference after the meeting.
