minor bicycle fall for President Joe Biden

The American president fell off his stationary bike while riding in Rehoboth Beach where he owns a city on the ocean in the state of Delaware. He quickly got up before assuring that he was fine.

US President Joe Biden, 79, fell off his stationary bike this Saturday morning in Delaware, where he is spending the weekend, but quickly got up and said he was “well”.

During a bike ride in Rehoboth Beach, a small seaside town where he regularly spends weekends in his villa on the ocean, the president fell around 9:40 am, according to a journalist from the presidential pool.

Joe Biden had wanted to stop to speak to passers-by and journalists waiting for him, but said he had trouble dislodging his foot from the pedal. He fell sideways, while his bike was immobilized, according to a video of the journalist.

He was immediately surrounded by members of his security, but quickly got to his feet. Asked about his condition, he replied:

“I’m fine.”

The president wore shorts, blue sneakers, a bicycle helmet and gloves. No visible traces of the fall, such as scratches, were visible, according to the journalist. He then briefly chatted with passers-by, then journalists, and got back on his bike and left about 5 minutes later.

He was accompanied by his wife, Jill Biden, who did not witness the fall, having continued on her way.

A closely scrutinized health

The health of all American presidents is closely scrutinized, but that of Joe Biden in particular, due to his advanced age.

In November 2020, Joe Biden, already elected but not yet president, broke his foot while playing with one of his two German Shepherds, Major.

A year later, in November 2021, his doctor had pointed out during a health check that Joe Biden was “in good health”, “vigorous” and “fit” to carry out his function.
